A Viceroy Butterfly

Butterfly numbers have been low until recently.

This viceroy butterfly took time to pose for me, better known as “basking in the sun.” They resemble monarch butterflies and have an extra black line on their hindwings that monarchs lack.

  2. We seem to have plenty here, but I just saw a honeybee for the first time today.


  3. A few seasons ago, I started out hoping to photograph monarchs instead of viceroys. But all my pictures turned out to been monarchs. Now I’d love to see a viceroy!
