Pondhawk Dragonfly

Erythemis simplicicollis

At first I thought this pondhawk dragonfly was a male, until I looked them up in my field guide.  The males are pale blue, and the females the grass green.

Another one perched in the thick-of-things of my “weed patch” and would fly out hawking insects.
