What a Sunset!

We live on the east side of the highway,

with a large field across the highway in the west.

We’ve practically had large billowing clouds almost daily for several weeks.

Most lingered into the evening.

They constantly changed shapes and reflected the colors.

The changing colors put on a dramatic show.

I took all these (and more) pictures from our front yard.

I wonder what to expect this evening.

Sunset Variations

These pictures were taken 7:30 p.m. from my chair by the living room window.

I couldn’t have planned it better to capture the last light of the day.

A little more light changed the atmosphere of the evening.

The sun continued to sink  in the west,

and the colors to darken.

I stayed in my chair by the window.

The sun highlighted the clouds in the west.

The end of the day approached, and I sat in my chair watching its progression.

I wonder what tomorrow’s sunset will bring.

Recent Sunsets

The evening skies have put on shows lately.

Every

sunset

is

a

surprise!

Posing With a Mouthful

I went out in the evening to walk around the yard. It was actually cool.

Two of the resident groundhogs were having a late grass meal. My presence startled them. The young one stared at me with a mouthful of grass before it ran to the barn too.

A Wow Sunset

I sat in my rocker/recliner by the picture window in our living room recently.

The sunset had just begun at 5:35 p.m.

Fifteen minutes later …

I hurried out in the front yard and started snapping pictures,

zooming out,

and zooming back in.

The clouds looked like a sandy barren landscape.

… just so many patterns to look at!

Then I changed a camera setting so I could extend this special time.

The view was so wide, I kept changing the angle of the camera.

IMG_9410

I remained mesmerized.

IMG_9413

The earth’s rotation became obvious with the clouds getting lower in the sky.

Obviously, I’ll continue to check the sunsets every night.

Passing Evening Storm

An evening storm passed just to the northwest of us. These are some of the pictures I took in fifteen to twenty minutes before it moved on.

About fifteen to twenty minutes of “oohing” and “aahing,” and the storm was past.
