Obelisk Position

I was out early this morning for my daily spider hunt.

Then I got side tracked by this dragonfly in its obelisk position. This position reduces the amount of sun/heat on the dragonfly.

What to think?

I took this picture at 8:30 in the morning.

I was in  such a hurry to take pictures before the light changed. It was a shaft of light, but I couldn’t see the top part. I changed my position several times to get the shaft of light behind the spider web for pictures.

This shows part of the the web up close. It was a challenge to get the web where it showed the most.

I do believe I’m becoming infatuated with spider webs.

Do You See Her?

The morning fog blurs the background of this picture.

I sit on the couch across the living room from the window. Every time I sit here I see a face staring back at me from the oak outside the window (three windows side-by-side).

The leaf hanging on the left is her hair, the twig angling in from the top right is her closed eye, and the lowest leaf on the right is her mouth.

What is she thinking? Does she have a message for me?

Two groundhogs live under our barn — a parent and a young one.

The rain didn’t seem to bother this young one.

It moved along, from one tasty morsel to the next.

It must finally be full.

It took a little time to rest before it went back under barn.

Almost Neon

IMG_1517

An eastern pondhawk dragonfly looked almost neon in the morning light.

(I posted this blog early this morning. I just realized the wrong dragonfly picture was in the blog … not the one I posted. I have no ideas how that happened. This one definitely looks more neon.  Hope this post works!)
